What makes the Post and Beam homes so alluring? Is it the massive strength of the post and beam frame and the enduring stability of the homes, or is it the unmatched calm and comfort of the homes  style, in stark contrast to life itself? These beautiful post and beam designs are made to have engineering strengths that allow for long, unobstructed spans, open floor plans, and walls of glass. The result is a signature: a mix of casual elegance and livability that never goes out of style.

There is a network of Post and Beam Designers (also known as Timber Frame Homes)  nationwide and internationally, do your research. Post and Beam homes are a legacy that can be passed down for generations, those who inhabit it can enjoy these benefits for decades… or even centuries.

Good Morning and let’s welcome another week of frolicking and  summer fun. I can’t believe its June already!!! Summer is here and life is in full swing!! Some great design ideas for Summer entertaining! We’ll start with Bellini’s my favorite! I love serving cocktails on the deck on a great summer day!

Kiwi-Strawberry Bellini Makes: 8 servings

4  Kiwi

16 Strawberries

1 (750ml) bottle Prosecco
Remove skin from kiwi fruits, cut into quarters.  In a food processor or blender, puree until smooth. Remove  stems from strawberries, cut in halves.  In a food processor or blender, puree until smooth. Spoon kiwi puree and strawberry puree onto the bottom of champagne glasses, about 1 to 2 heaping tablespoons each.  Pour over fruit puree and enjoy.
*Note: you can substitute Prosecco with sparkling white grape juice for a non-alcohol version.

Summer is here at last and so is lingering in summer spaces. The photography that Horst shot for Vogue and House & Garden in the 1960s, 70s and 80s has such enduring appeal. Right now, I’m drawn to spaces with summer-style. I hope you are finding time to linger in summer spaces, too.

Here is a view of  Schoon Lake in New York. On this beautiful site Eagle Capital Group is building a Spa and Resort,  to be named”StoneLedge”.  Myself and Maurer Interiors will be helping with the interior design of this project. We were so excited to share this vision with him. What a slice of heaven!!

Just a few outdoor spaces to end today!!

As always stay tuned….

XOXO

Bright colors or mellow hues, color is the key to kick spring into gear!! From rooms in your home to pieces of furniture you want add as an accent, color goes a long way. This is a before and after of my 2010  show house  room.

This is a sad old buffet that my brother-in-law brought to me and said “Wow” isn’t this just great? I was a bit unsure but once it was finished I thought “Wow” this is a great little piece!!!

I primed and painted it blue, sprayed the hardware white and Wella!! My niece Stefanie, is expecting and will use this as her baby’s dresser, we will make a top section for a changing pad and this will be repurposed into a nursery piece, transformed with color!!

A little bit of imagination and elbow grease goes a long way, here is another way to transform a piece of furniture with color.

I recently visited a client who had a corner cabinet. I loved it but it looked a little dated. I immediately thought a quick coat of paint and wrapping paper in the back. This is a great example! What a great background for this cabinet.

One more shot of the same cabinet with a blue quatre foil paper!! Such a different look. What ideas do you have? The possibilities are endless, you can use paint, paper or fabric. Just a little imagination and you too can transform your home for spring!

As Always stay tuned for more color ideas for spring!!

XOXO
